How to enable Volte in Samsung SM-A720F /A7
How to enable
Volte in Samsung SM-A720F (2017 Version)
I’ve
purchased Samsung A7(2017) from dubai but once I tried using this phone on JIO
/Airtel /Vodafone voLTE was not working . After a lot of research, I’ve made
this working. Here is the list of tasks, we have to do:
·
Select the right Stock-Firmware and
download before you start the other stuff
o
Get
the model number [ Settings -> About
phone -> Model Number ]
in my case it was
SM-A720F
o
Note
Down your baseband version
[Settings -> about phone -> Software Information -> Baseband version]
in my case A720FXXU9CTE1
Check the highlighted number
U9 , while downloading this needs to
be matched against Indian stock firmware else you will get error similar to
below because binary did not match :
“sw rev check
fail device 9 binary 7 error”
o
Go
to Sammobile and put model name, country etc and it will show you list of
firmware name for your model :
Look for your version (my case 8.0.0), PDA version (that has above
required binary, In my case it was U9
File will be approx. 2+
GB so have patience and let it get complete.
o
Download
ODIN for flashing the stock firmware (I’ve used : Odin3_v3.13.1)
o
Install
Samsung drivers , alternatively you can install Samsung’s SmartSwitch, Which
will install the necerssory driver in your computer
·
Enable setting in mobile phone
o
Enable
developer mode :-> Click the build number 6-7 times [Settings -> about phone -> Software Information ]
o
Enable
OEM unlock
[ Settings -> Developer options -> OEM unlock ]
o
Enable
USB debugging
[ Settings -> Developer options -> USB Debugging ]
o
Remove
any pin pattern/locking/screenlock fingerprint etc
·
If
you can take backup, please do so of your data, but for complete backup (system
image, file system etc) your phone needs to be rooted, that will void your warranty,
so better avoid if you are under warranty.
If your phone is rooted, then you can install custom recovery and take
full system backup
·
Second Last Step ( Flashing the
firmware )
o
Downloaded
firmware will be a rar/zip file , unrar/unzip it , it will show you 4 files
. Here is the screenshot :
o
Connect
Mobile to laptop , let driver get installed (if required)
o
Open
ODIN, Once ODIN detect your phone it will show you COM Port as below
Click and select the file for 4 boxes in
ODIN , AP file to AP field , BL file to BL etc , leave the last ODIN field
blank
Here is what I’ve selected –
o
Don’t
click anything on Options tab or Pit. Let it be default . Here is what default
looks like
o
All
set, Click Start and Wait for 4-5 minutes. If all successfully it will show
message like below
·
o
Phone
should automatically restart as factory reset.
·
Last Step (configuring voLTE ) .
o
Ideally
it should show LTE now , If not then no need to worry , perform below
o
Make
sure “Network Mode is – LTE/3G/2G”
o
Reset
“Access Point Name( APN setting)”
o
Restart
Phone
o
Wait
for 5 mins, after restart and Check if you are able to make call or not
o
If
still it does not appear on the top , then perform below
o
Shutdown
the phone , and Start the phone in “recovery mode”
HOME + Volume Up + Power
Button ( Once Galaxy Logo Appears, release the Power button ) Wait for 2-3 minutes
, it will show “Android Recovery”
Select “Wipe cache
partition” , Click Yes
o
Hope you will be able to see it now. I was
able to get voLTE it after this step.
